Summary
This document explains how to add resume files that do not get parsed via the Quick Import or other import options in RBox.
RBox may not able to parse the resume content from some resume files due to issues with the file format, special characters in the content, corruption in the file etc. This document provides workarounds to add such resumes to the RBox database.
1. Process
Try out the following steps in the order given to add resumes not getting parsed into RBox.
Option 1. Copy The Problem File Into A New MS Word File
a. Copy the contents of the problem resume file (PDF or Word doc) into a newMS Wordfile.
- Open a new Word file.
- Open the problem PDF or doc file, then select the entire content using Ctrl+A and then copy it using Ctrl+C.
- Paste the copied content in the blank Word file using Ctrl+V and save it by giving candidate name as file name on your desktop.
b. Import the converted Word file into RBox
- Use Import from desktop or Shortlist from Desktop option to import the Word file into RBox.
If above step fails then try Option 2 below:
Option 2. Copy the Problem File into New Text (Notepad) File
a. Copy the contents of the problem resume file (PDF or Word doc) into a new text file.
- Open a new text file in Notepad
- Open the problem PDF or doc file, then select the entire content using Ctrl+A and then copy it using Ctrl+C.
- Paste the copied content in the Notepad file using Ctrl+V and save it by giving candidate name as file name on your desktop.
b. Import converted text file into RBox
- Use Import from desktop or Shortlist from Desktop option to import the converted text file into RBox
c. Attach PDF/Doc file to imported candidate details:
- Click on candidate name, in detail page in the right-hand section, from "View Options" drop-down, select "Switch to Full View".
- In Full View page, click on the 'Files' tab.
- Under the 'Resume Files' section, click on the 2nd "Browse" button (do not click the one next to already existing text file) and select the PDF/Doc file.
- From the drop-down next to Browse button select "Formatted Resume".
- Click on the 'Save' button.
After following above steps the candidate will be shown with the attached PDF/Doc file icon.
If above step fails then try Option 3 below:
Option 3. Add Basic Candidate Details Manually & Attach Resume File
a. Open the New Candidate form in RBox by pointing to 'New' menu and selecting 'Candidate'.
b. In the 'New Candidate' screen, enter the basic details of the candidate i.e. Name, Email-id, Phone no. and click 'Save'.
c. Attach PDF/Doc file to imported candidate details:
- In the Public Candidates->Added/Refreshed view, click on candidate name, in detail page in the right-hand section, from "View Options" drop-down, select "Switch to Full View".
- In Full View page, click on the 'Files' tab.
- Under the 'Resume Files' section, click on the 1st "Browse" button and select the PDF/Doc file.
- From the drop-down next to Browse button select "Formatted Resume".
- Click on the 'Save' button.
After following above steps the candidate will be shown with the attached PDF/Doc file icon.
